Following a few requests for more information about FTZ Babytragen and the DIN EN ISO quality management certification we recently underwent we put together some information. Thank you to Wibke Hott for helping us with the translation.

FTZ Babytragen - the first babywearing school with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certification

In May 2018, FTZ Babytragen, the babywearing school and CPD training centre based in Mainz, Germany, became the first babywearing school and organisation of its kind worldwide, to be awarded DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Years of hard work paid off when DVWO, the German umbrella organisation for further education and training providers, signed off on the quality mark for FTZ Babytragen for the successful introduction and implementation of a comprehensive quality management system across the organisation and all its 'products'.

So, why would a babywearing school need a quality management system?

FTZ- Babytragen offers babywearing consultancy courses as well as CPD training workshops for babywearing consultants and other professionals in the industry and related fields.

The origins of these training workshops and courses date back to 1998 and the work of LANA Schweiz (Susi Milz). In 2008, following a take over, Sonja Wermbter moved FTZ Babytragen to Mainz, Germany, and continued to develop and expand on the original courses and workshops in close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals.

FTZ Babytragen approaches babywearing from a holistic angle, bringing together scientific research in the fields of medicine, physiology, biology, neuropsychology and early years development, as well as attachment theory and pedagogy. The courses and training programme focuses on the continuous development of skills and competency in; babywearing and infant handling, wrapping/carrying technique, a thorough understanding of the underpinning theory and its medical foundation, interpersonal skills and an openness towards new challenges and special requirements.

Today FTZ Babytragen delivers a varied course and training programme in 8 countries in 7 languages, building strong connections and collaborations with health care institutes, organisations and universities. Earlier this year Sonja and her team finalised the thorough evaluation of a 5 year pilot project, researching the use of carrying aids in nurseries and kindergardens, leading to the rolling out of specialist training courses for nursery and early years staff and their organisations.

In addition to interested parents wanting to share their passion for babywearing, the FTZ Babytragen course and training programme is aimed at midwives, nurses, therapists, nursery staff and other health care professionals working with families in a multitude of settings. These professionals already work under strict quality standards.

With branches in Switzerland, Columbia and USA, and multiple trainers for individual training modules teaching in 7 different languages around the world, it was a logical step to introduce and implement a comprehensive quality management system across the organisation and all its products, including the babywearing consultancy training courses and individual CPD training workshops such as 'pregnancy support wrapping after FTZB', 'babywearing & the pelvic floor'.

The thorough QM standards and evaluation tools help FTZ Babytragen to ensure consistency, transparency and accountability on all levels through standardised training content and high quality teaching by all FTZ Babytragen trainers across the programme, and thus work towards its mission of establishing babywearing in mainstream society to share the many benefits of babywearing.

FTZ Babytragen demonstrates its commitment to the ongoing professional development not only of the babywearing industry but also of those working in and around it. As DVWO states: "For life-long learning it is important to have quality development and -control across educational sectors and providers. It requires focussed and consequent development of quality strategies, which are transparent for the clients and customers alike."

FTZB babywearing consultants and CPD course participants have access to support and help in their work, including regular supervision, for both, the content and technical delivery of their consultancies, and also their personal health and wellbeing through emotional first aid (EEH).

It is through this tightly knitted support network that FTZ Babytragen is able to follow through the quality assurance of the DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certification all the way to the individual clients and families meeting with FTZB babywearing consultants in 1:1 sessions and follow up visits.

FTZ-Babytragen – Die erste Trageschule mit Qualitäts-Siegel (11.06.18)

Nun ist es amtlich, das Fortbildungs- & Trainingszentrum -FTZ- Babytragen ist die erste Trageschule und Institution im Babywearing-Bereich weltweit mit einem Qualitäts-Siegel, dem DVWO- Siegel nach DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 und damit ein echter Vorreiter unter den Trageschulen. Die Arbeit der letzten Jahre und Monate, in denen an der erfolgreichen Einführung eines Qualitätsmanagement-Systems gearbeitet wurde, hat sich also gelohnt.

Jetzt könnte man sich berechtigterweise fragen, was eine Trageschule eigentlich macht und warum sie ein Qualitätsmanagementsystem braucht.
Das Fortbildungs- & Trainingszentrum -FTZ- Babytragen ist Trageschule für Eltern und Fortbildungszentrum zugleich. Bereits seit 2008 werden am Hauptsitz in Mainz TrageberaterInnen ausgebildet und geschult. Im Laufe der letzten Jahre kamen neben der Ausbildung zur TrageberaterIn immer mehr Weiterbildungen, die mit dem Thema Babytragen in engem Zusammenhang stehen oder dieses ergänzen, hinzu. Im Mittelpunkt der Aus- und Fortbildungen stehen immer die hohe fachliche Kompetenz rund um das Thema Babytragen sowie ständige Erweiterung und Erneuerung von Grundtechniken, Basiswissen, medizinisch erforderliche Grundlagen und ein hohes Maß an Offenheit allem Neuen und besonderen Situationen gegenüber. Das FTZ-Babytragen sieht Tragen unter ganzheitlichen Gesichtspunkten und verbindet wissenschaftlich anerkannte Forschungsergebnisse aus Medizin, Physiologie, Biologie und bindungs- und bedürfnisorientierter Begleitung. Es möchte dazu beitragen, Babytragen in unserer Gesellschaft zu etablieren. Eltern sollen über die Vorteile des Tragens informiert und individuell von den TrageberaterInnen FTZB über die für ihr Baby altersgemäßen Tragetechniken und deren exakten Bindeweisen geschult werden.

Neben interessierten Eltern, die das Babytragen gerne weitergeben möchten, richten sich die Aus- Fort- und Weiterbildungsangebote vor allem auch an Hebammen, Fachpersonal Pflege oder Therapeuten, deren Arbeit hohen Qualitätsstandards unterliegt. Auch das FTZ-Babytragen stellt schon immer höchste Ansprüche an die Qualität und das Niveau der Fortbildungen und da es inzwischen Landesvertretungen in der Schweiz, Kolumbien und den USA sowie zahlreiche Multiplikatoren einzelner Module in verschiedenen Ländern gibt, war es nur ein logischer Schritt, sich selbst einem Qualitätsmanagementsystem zu unterstellen. Dies garantiert, dass die Inhalte überall standardisiert und auf einem einheitlich hohen Niveau vermittelt werden. Mit dem DVWO Qualitäts-Siegel wurde aber nicht nur das FTZ-Babytragen als Einrichtung nach der Prüfung ausgezeichnet, sondern auch gleichzeitig alle ihre „Produkte": Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildungen und die Trageberatungen als Erst- und Folgeberatung, so dass die Zertifikate der Teilnehmer zukünftig das Siegel der DVWO-Qualitätsmanagement-Richtlinien nach DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 tragen. So wird den "Kunden", also den angehenden TrageberaterInnen aber auch den Beratungseltern, hohe, standardisierte Qualität in allen Kooperations-Ländern geboten.

„Für das Lernen im Lebenslauf ist eine bildungsbereichs- und trägerübergreifende Qualitätsentwicklung und –sicherung notwendig. Das Lernen im Lebenslauf erfordert eine konzentrierte und konsequente Weiterentwicklung der Qualitätsstrategien, die auch für die Nutzerseite transparent sind."
Parallel zu den zukunftsweisenden Empfehlungen des Innovationskreises Weiterbildung hat der DVWO bereits vor wenigen Jahren erkannt, dass Bildungsprodukte im Wesentlichen nicht durch ihren Abwicklungsprozess, sondern durch die Inhalte der vermittelten Bildungsangebote gekennzeichnet sind. Dazu wurde in der Fachkommission Qualität des DVWO in Zusammenarbeit mit allen Mitgliedsverbänden des DVWO ein Konsensmodell zu den Kompetenzanforderungen an Bildungsdienstleister und für Aus- und Weiterbildungs-einrichtungen entwickelt. Dieses Konsensmodell wird DVWO Qualitäts-Siegel genannt.
Das DVWO Qualitäts-Siegel orientiert sich dabei ganz eng an der internationalen Norm für Qualitätsmanagement-Systeme, der DIN EN ISO 9001. Diese Norm wird in den meisten Industrie- und Dienstleistungseinrichtungen in Deutschland, Europa und der Welt eingesetzt, verwirklicht und aufrechterhalten.

Feste muss man feiern! (01.11.17)

Und unsere offizielle Eröffnung am 29.10.2017 in unseren neuen wunderschönen Räumen in Mainz-Hechtsheim war uns nicht nur ein Grund sondern ein Anliegen zu feiern. Zahlreich erschienen Freunde, Netzwerk- und Kooperationspartner, Familie, ehemalige, aktive und zukünftige Trageeltern um zu schauen, sich zu informieren oder einfach nur zu plaudern. Ein buntes Programm von Kinderschminken, Wärmekissen besticken und vernähen und Luftballontiere knoten sorgten neben einem tollen Gewinnspiel und einem kleinen herzhaft-süßen Buffet für die nötige Abwechslung und dafür, dass Groß und Klein bestens versorgt waren und mit Sicherheit niemandem langweilig wurde.
Danke für all die Glückwünsche, lieben Worte und kleinen Geschenke, die diesen Tag für uns zu etwas ganz besonderem gemacht haben und uns darin bestärken, dass der Schritt den wir gegangen sind, genau richtig war.
